Staying Connected and Safe: Comcast’s Summer Storm Response

From powerful storm systems with damaging winds and heavy rain to extreme heat, summer weather can pose significant challenges. Here’s how we help Xfinity and Comcast Business customers stay informed and connected to the moments that matter most.
Proactive Preparation: A Year-Round Commitment
At Comcast, our teams work year-round to maintain and fortify our network against weather-related disruptions. This includes inspecting and reinforcing infrastructure, increasing staffing, pre-staging backup generators and equipment, fortifying network facilities, and collaborating closely with power companies and local and state emergency personnel to address urgent and ongoing needs.
When severe weather strikes, our proactive monitoring and reporting capabilities allow us to respond as quickly as possible to impacts.
Keeping Customers Connected During Storms
Comcast knows that connectivity is critical during severe weather. We have built proactive monitoring and reporting into our network so we can quickly respond.

Our Restoration Process
Following storm-related outages, local power must be restored before Xfinity or Comcast Business Internet, video or phone services can begin working again. If your home or business has electricity but not service, it’s possible the commercial electrical utilities that power our local network have not yet been restored. To confirm, Comcast recommends restarting or resetting devices, including modems and TV boxes.
After the storm, Comcast deploys resources like charging stations and fast, convenient mobile WiFi hotspots to support affected communities. These hotspots are free to Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile customers and eligible Xfinity Internet, Comcast Business Internet and Internet Essentials customers. Just look for the “xfinitywifi” or “XFINITY” SSID and login with your credentials when prompted.
Our Dedicated Team
From technicians braving treacherous driving conditions to restore service, to customer care representatives providing support, our Comcast teams’ commitment ensures customers stay connected when it matters most. As we face unpredictable summer weather, Comcast remains steadfast in supporting our communities and delivering reliable service.
