Comcast announced a $20,000 grant award to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware to support local youth with digital skills training and career development through the organization’s “My Future” education platform. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware has more than 40 locations across the state that inspire and enable young people to realize their full potential by providing educational resources.

“We are incredibly grateful to Comcast for this generous investment in youth across Delaware,” said Jermane Duncan, Executive Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware’s Western Sussex Branch. “Comcast understands the critically important role that digital skills play in accelerating career opportunities. This grant helps set our youth up for success both in and out of the classroom, and will strengthen our ability to support the next generation of leaders.”

The grant was announced at a recent Team UP event in partnership with the Sportsman Channel at the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club – a chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware in Seaford, DE. Team UP is Comcast’s always-on, 365-days-a-year national employee volunteer program.

“Investing in our youth is investing in the future of Delaware,” said Delaware Governor Matt Meyer, who delivered remarks at the event. “We applaud Comcast for its continued investment in Sussex County – from helping youth at the Boys & Girls Club accelerate digital skills training to expanding its broadband network in order to connect more residents and businesses to reliable, high-speed Internet.”

Seaford Mayor Matt MacCoy also spoke at the event, sharing that “As a proud former member of the Boys & Girls Clubs, I’ve seen firsthand how this organization changes lives. Comcast’s grant will open doors for our youth by equipping them with the skills they need to succeed, and is a testament to the power of community partnerships.”

Comcast employees prepared and served dinner for more than 100 of the Club’s members as part of the Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed. program. Launched in 2007 by the Sportsman Channel, Hunt.Fish.Feed. continues to raise awareness of the ongoing hunger crisis in the United States.

“We are proud to partner with the Sportsman Channel to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware and the incredible work they do to empower young people every day,” said Misty Allen, Vice President of Government Affairs & Community Impact for Comcast’s Beltway Region. “This event reflects our deep commitment to giving back to the communities where we live, work and serve – and our mission to empower youth through digital skills training.”

Throughout communities across Delaware, Comcast provides Internet, mobile, and entertainment from Xfinity to residents, and connectivity, networking, cybersecurity, mobile, and managed solutions to businesses of all sizes from Comcast Business.

Comcast recently partnered with Delaware to connect more than 2,600 previously unserved homes – including in rural parts of Sussex County. This expansion of Comcast’s state-of-the-art network is spotlighted in a video showing how connectivity has impacted residents and businesses in Sussex County:
