2024 in Review: Connecting Communities and Driving Innovation with Xfinity and Comcast Business

Comcast logo painted on glass window.

Across the region, 2024 has been a big year, and that’s true for us at Comcast as well. We’ve expanded our network to new areas, introduced new products, engaged more local businesses, and partnered with our community to bridge the digital divide, all with a goal of connecting customers to what they love. Read on for some of the highlights from an impactful 2024:

Expanding Our Reliable, Fast and Secure Network

Through network expansions, this year we brought Xfinity and Comcast Business services to thousands more residents and businesses in our region for the first time. These expansion projects enhance digital infrastructure, promote economic growth, and position residents and local businesses for success in an increasingly digital world.

Some of these projects in our region include:

Enhancing the Value and Innovation of Our Products

In 2024, we’ve added to our mobile, Internet, and entertainment offerings with innovative features and options.

Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile continue to offer some of the lowest prices on the market with residential customers saving up to 50% on their wireless bill when they switch from “the Big Three.” In addition to savings, this year we introduced WiFi Boost, which delivers speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second when customers connect to millions of Xfinity WiFi hotspots.

We launched Xfinity StreamSaver, a streaming bundle of Peacock, Netflix, and Apple TV+ that delivers savings of over 30% a year. By bringing these premium streaming services together for the first time, Xfinity is making it easy for customers to enjoy exceptional entertainment, including thousands of hours of live sports, from the best streaming apps at an unparalleled value.

We also introduced NOW, a brand of quality, low-cost Internet, mobile, and streaming TV products that customers can purchase month-to-month, whenever they want. Backed by the Xfinity network, NOW products feature all-in pricing, no contracts or credit checks.

For Internet customers, we increased speeds at no additional cost – something we’ve done every year for the past 20 years – making it easier to do more like video calling with friends, gaming, or streaming a movie with the family.

And the Paris Olympics was a milestone moment for Comcast, delighting fans across the country and driving massive viewership and engagement across NBCUniversal’s broadcast and cable networks, and streaming on Peacock. We celebrated the Olympic and Paralympic Games by welcoming Team Comcast athlete Trevon Jenifer, a four-time Paralympic medalist in wheelchair basketball, to speak to the youth of Alexandria, VA at an event at the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Boys & Girls Club.

Connecting Local Businesses

For local businesses, Comcast Business offers a suite of connectivity, communications, networking, cybersecurity, wireless and managed solutions to help organizations of all sizes achieve their business goals. We shared stories of businesses like Joe Bean’s Express Espresso, a family-run coffee shop in Virginia, as they used solutions from Comcast Business to drive business growth.

This year, we also deployed new client relations teams in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina to show enterprise decision makers how Comcast Business can deliver advanced technology solutions to enterprises with a human touch. And 100 businesses in Richmond received comprehensive grant packages through the Comcast RISE program, including business consultation services, educational resources, a $5,000 monetary grant, and more. The recipients are among more than 14,000 entrepreneurs nationwide, including 188 in Richmond, who have been awarded through the Comcast RISE program to date.

Building a Future of Unlimited Possibilities in Our Communities

There are numerous organizations in our region working hard to increase Internet adoption and digital skills in our communities. Through Project UP, our $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity, we’ve partnered with several to help build a future of unlimited possibilities, including:

  • The A.D. Lewis Community Center in Huntington, WV, which we awarded a $20,000 grant to help members of the community with broadband adoption and digital skills training.
  • The City of Alexandria’s Summer Youth Employment Program, which we awarded 130 laptops to support its students with digital skills training and workforce readiness.
  • We awarded the Chickahominy Indian Tribe in Charles City County, VA with $25,000 and 100 laptops and partnered with CodeVA, a Richmond-based non-profit that provides computer science education, to host a series of workshops to help teach senior tribal citizens the skills needed to succeed in today’s digital world.

Recognizing Our People

Each milestone this year – from expanding our network to launching new products and features – is made possible by our dedicated team members. Those like Allyson, a Senior Business Account Executive with Comcast Business, and Natalie, an Assistant Store Manager in Alexandria, VA, who work every day to provide a great experience for our customers.

Our employees also volunteered in their communities with Team UP, our national employee volunteer program. For example, Comcast volunteers joined the Sportsman Channel at the A.D. Lewis Community Center in Huntington to prepare and provide meals for more than 200 people in need as part of the Hunt.Fish.Feed. program – which builds on Comcast’s long history of community service and aligns with Team UP.

Looking Ahead

We’re hard at work preparing to bring customers even more of what they love in 2025.
