ALLYSON’S MANTRA: “Remember, kid, there’s heroes and there’s legends. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die. Follow your heart, kid, and you’ll never go wrong.” – Babe Ruth
Meet Allyson, a Senior Business Account Executive with Comcast Business who has been with the organization for five years. We asked Allyson to share more about her role as a Comcast Business sales support professional.
Tell us about your typical day-to-day.
My days are never the same, which I love. I’m either helping customers set up their service or finding new businesses in need of an elevated experience, which is one of my favorite parts of the job. Helping a new customer improve their business through services like Comcast Business’ fast, reliable Internet is extremely rewarding – especially when you believe in the product and frequently recommend it to friends and family.
What are the skills that are most critical to be successful in this role?
Organization and communication skills are the most critical. Scheduling important dates and tasks in my calendar helps me tremendously, especially when I have customers who rely on me. Also, keeping a positive attitude and fostering relationships are the name of the game. I’ve had huge success because I care about my customers, understand their needs and care about their overall experience.
What has been the key to your success as a woman in sales?
I am very competitive by nature. I’ve been an athlete since I was three years old and played competitively in college so I’m no stranger to competition. I’ve always lived by the mantra, “anything they can do, I can do better” and that’s helped me face and conquer plenty of obstacles. I always want to be the best, no matter who I’m up against.
Why do you love working at Comcast?
I love the people who I work with and the culture that’s been created around me. My team is more of a family to me than coworkers. There’s consistent support and understanding, which is crucial to any relationship. You can tell our leaders – from my direct manager all the way up to our executives – care tremendously about the customer and employee experience. This also shows through the awesome benefits and perks at Comcast. For example, I’ve had one child since joining the team and I’m truly grateful for the generous maternity leave that allowed me to recuperate and spend time with my little angel.
I also stand behind our products and services, which makes my job extremely easy!
What advice would you give to someone looking to do this job?
Go for it! Take the chance, take the risk. It is by far the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. My grandfather was a master carpenter, and we’d drive around in his truck when I was a little girl and he’d show me all the things he built. Now, I drive down the road with my kids and point out all the businesses I’ve helped and share the stories of how they’ve grown and been successful. It’s really cool to have things come back full circle.
