Faces of Beltway: Meet Comcast Business Teammate, Sharon!

In honor of Women’s History Month, Comcast is celebrating the important role women have played in shaping our nation and our industry – including team members who are making a positive impact throughout the Beltway Region, like Sharon, a Product Sales Support & Analysis Specialist on our local Comcast Business team. Sharon has nearly 25 years of experience and is not only dedicated to serving her team and customers, but also her community.

Let’s learn more about Sharon:

What does Women’s History Month mean to you?
Women’s History Month means a great deal to me. The celebration of women like Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Patti Labelle, Viola Davis, Julia Roberts, and Angela Bassett is what inspires me. Their many achievements and ability to shine against all odds is incredible to see. I’m also proud to be an African American woman, of a certain age, in an incredible industry that is connecting us to the things and people we love most.

Tell us more about yourself — how long have you been with Comcast and what inspires you in your role?
I am originally from Orlando, Florida, am a seven-year breast cancer survivor and have a passion for community, family, and new experiences. Throughout my career, I’ve held many different roles and I have been with Comcast for the past 24 years.

I love that our company is constantly innovating our products and services and continues to make a positive impact on our communities. Having served my own community for the last 23 years, I’m proud to know Comcast is on the ground offering services, tools and resources to those who need it most. This, coupled with my passion for people, is why I also decided to get involved with our local Black Employee Network (an Employee Resource Group within the company).

How are you making an impact in your local community?
When I first moved to Maryland, I noticed areas in my neighborhood that needed improvements and decided to join the Homeowners Association. During my time on the Homeowners Association Board of Directors, we started a quarterly community cleanup day each quarter and launched the Community Day Yard Sale. At the same time, I participated in my church’s volunteer program, “Christmas in April,” which allowed us to provide beautification and food for families in need. Over the years, my church has also worked with Martha’s Table and Bread for the City distributing food to those who need it. We are also very active during the holidays – including cooking and distributing food to families through Feed the Hungry.

I’ve also had some exciting experiences giving back to great causes through my work with Comcast over the years. Volunteering alongside my fellow employees, I have participated in Wreaths Across America, delivered food to women’s shelters for cancer patients and partnered with Central Union Mission and The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to deliver Meals on Wheels.

As a member of the Comcast Business team, what do you find most rewarding about supporting businesses in your community?
Working for Comcast Business has given me greater insight into what our products and services are doing to elevate small and large business growth in our communities. I get to see how our sales representatives are building relationships with customers and working to ensure the correct solutions are implemented to enhance their businesses. It’s such an exciting process and I’m always looking for opportunities to help business owners thrive.

Which Comcast Business product or service do you think more businesses should take advantage of?
Our Comcast Business Internet and Cybersecurity offerings are top notch!

What is your favorite part about working at Comcast?
There are a lot of reasons why I love working for Comcast, but something I really value is that you can grow your career through many opportunities at the local or national level – the sky is the limit. DE&I is also very important here. We pride ourselves on respecting all backgrounds and points of view as it only helps to improve our ability to serve our customers in the best way possible. I feel extremely supported by my Comcast Business leaders and colleagues and know we all have the same goal – to help our customers stay connected to their businesses and to the things and people they care about most. I am proud to say I work for a dynamic company that consistently shows up in our communities.

Do you have a personal mantra you live by?
