Comcast Partners to Expand Rural Broadband Access to More Than 300 Households Across Delaware

Connectivity is the center of our lives, and at Comcast we continue to invest in our fiber-rich network to build, evolve, and expand it to meet the needs of our customers. In Delaware, we are partnering with the state to expand rural broadband access to more than 300 households in Kent and Sussex Counties.

On September 16, 2021, Comcast participated in an event in Bridgeville, Delaware where Governor John Carney announced the state’s rural broadband grant program, which will allocate $100 million to connect thousands of unserved addresses in the state. As part of the event, Governor Carney highlighted Delaware’s partnership with Comcast on the broadband expansion, which will receive support from the state’s CARES funds. Comcast also hosted a “show and tell” at the event, where elected officials could view construction equipment and network technology including fiber spools and bucket trucks – and meet some of our technicians and construction employees who are working every day to keep our residential and business customers connected in Delaware.

Comcast Beltway Region Vice President of Government & Regulatory Affairs, Kevin Broadhurst, spoke at the event and stated:

“We’ve invested more than half a billion dollars in capital expenditures, employee wages and benefits, taxes and fees, and charitable giving in Delaware over the last three years. We’re excited to participate in the state’s broadband program to bring our advanced network to even more Delaware residents and businesses to ensure they are connected to the fastest, most reliable internet speeds and in-home WiFi experiences.”

With this expansion, new customers will gain access to broadband service with speeds up to 1.2 gigabits as well as Xfinity products and services, including the award-winning Xfinity X1 video platform, Xfinity Home, Xfinity Voice and Xfinity Mobile. Area businesses can choose from the full suite of Comcast Business products and services, including Ethernet network speeds up to 100 Gigabits-per-second.

We have continued our investment in Delaware, recently announcing a $28M investment to expand our fiber-rich network throughout our Beltway Region, including Delaware. To learn more about our network, visit corporate.comcast.com/our-network.
