During Black History Month and throughout the year, it’s our goal to both honor the past and find a way to celebrate history in the making by tapping into current, relevant and timely moments.

We recently partnered with Smithsonian Channel, the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore, MD and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. to co-host private screenings of Smithsonian Channel’s THE GREEN BOOK: GUIDE TO FREEDOM. Presented through historians, business owners and individuals who experienced first-hand the phenomenon of “traveling while black” in pre-Civil Rights America, the film tells the story of Victor H. Green’s eponymously named travel guide that allowed African Americans to safely tour the country during a time of severe institutionalized racism. The film premieres Monday, February 25 at 8 p.m. on Smithsonian Channel.

The group beautified the historic Deanwood neighborhood in Northeast, D.C. including Ron Brown High School, IDEA Public Charter School, Kelly Miller Middle School and Deanwood Recreation Center. BEN is one of Comcast’s Employee Resource Groups and strives to engage, empower and develop all employees, while investing in the communities in which we live and work.
