The Digital Experience: Ultimate Control of Your Home WiFi Network

We live in a world where more things are connected than ever; we are inseparable from our mobile devices, and homes are rapidly becoming full of smart appliances and gadgets.  With this unprecedented level of WiFi usage and connected device ownership, it is more important than ever to have a robust Internet service to meet the complex needs of today’s digital home.

Enter Xfinity xFi, a simple, digital dashboard that gives customers more control over their home WiFi network. With xFi, you can set up your home WiFi network, find your network password, see what devices are connected, troubleshoot issues and set parental controls. We’ve also recently rolled out additional family-friendly xFi features including:

  • WiFi Allowance: Parents can set specific time allowances for their child’s daily Internet usage at home. The “Active Time Alerts” feature will notify parents when their child’s WiFi usage on their home network is approaching their allotted time.
  • Timed Pause: With xFi, parents can pause devices for a set amount of time — 30 minutes, one hour or two hours.
  • Safer Searching: xFi includes simple parental controls that include search settings for Google, Bing and YouTube.
  • Notification Center: xFi customers get real-time notifications about activity on their WiFi network. Now when your children have friends over and a new tablet or phone logs onto the network, you’ll receive a text message and can decide whether to allow connectivity, as well as set parental controls remotely.

Since launching in May 2017, the overall number of xFi users has increased an average of 32 percent every month, and the “pause device” feature has become the most popular, with users tapping “pause” close to five million times since launch, most often between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m.

The xFi digital dashboard can be accessed via the xFi mobile app (iOS and Android), website and on the TV with the X1 voice remote. xFi is now available to more than 15 million Xfinity Internet customers who rent a compatible Xfinity WiFi device and comes at no extra cost.

As connectivity becomes the center of the digital home, Comcast is redefining what people should expect from broadband and have built an Internet experience that combines gigabit speeds with the best WiFi coverage, a digital dashboard to manage connected devices in the home and enough capacity to stay ahead of the next generation of technology and innovation.
