Comcast Business Invests Nearly Three Million in Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia and Frederick, Maryland

Comcast Business recently announced a nearly three million dollar investment in the expansion of its fiber-based network in Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia and Frederick, Maryland to help bolster the region’s thriving economies and provide local businesses with access to scalable solutions. Capable of delivering up to 100 Gigabits-per-second (Gbps) of network capacity, the fiber optic Ethernet network expansion supports advanced services and gives Comcast Business the ability to give new customers, ranging from small and medium-sized organizations to large enterprises, quick access to its network.

While the Comcast Business network already serves many of Beltway Region’s largest companies and hundreds of businesses, the expansions in Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia, and in Frederick, Maryland, have deployed additional miles of new fiber in and near downtown business areas, bringing high-performance Ethernet, Internet and advanced voice solutions to even more businesses and organizations.

“As demand for our high-performance Ethernet offerings continues to soar, we’re proud to bring our advanced network deeper into the area to help the economic growth of these cities and the region,” Mary McLaughlin, Beltway Region Vice President, Comcast

The Ethernet extensions in Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia include downtown buildouts in North Arlington along Washington and Wilson Boulevards, Ballston, Crystal City and Pentagon City in Arlington; and the City of Alexandria, including Old Town and the Route 1 corridor in Alexandria.

“Comcast’s continued investment in Arlington to provide the latest network technology and cutting edge products plays a major role in the success of our businesses, and the services they provide to our surrounding community,” said Kate Bates, President and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. “We commend Comcast for making such an important commitment to keeping Arlington at the forefront of innovation.”

In Frederick, Maryland, the extensions include buildouts both north and south of Interstate 70 and east and west of Route 15, connecting hundreds of businesses along Patrick Street, East Street, Thomas Johnson Drive, Rosemont Avenue, Westview Drive, Ballenger Creek Pike, Buckeystown Pike and Urbana Pike.

“As Frederick engages the knowledge economy, high speed fiber links become critical to move data for technology companies, health care organizations, schools and our citizens,” said Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor. “I appreciate Comcast’s investment in critical infrastructure to give Frederick a competitive edge.”

Comcast Business serves 20 of the nation’s top 25 markets and is one of the fastest-growing Ethernet providers in the nation. With a comprehensive portfolio of Ethernet options, Comcast Business serves businesses and organizations with distributed enterprises that require large amounts of bandwidth, are looking to link multiple sites or branch locations or plan to connect their offices to a third-party data center.

Nationally, Comcast Business’s Ethernet services are delivered over an advanced network that spans more than 153,000 miles. Comcast Business customers thus remain on an advanced network that is quickly scalable and privately managed by an experienced team.
