Our Year-Round Commitment to the Military Community

Veterans Day and Veterans and Military Families Month in November is an opportunity for the entire nation to collectively thank and honor military members and their families for living a life dedicated to service, and at Comcast NBCUniversal, we are extending this gratitude to the military community throughout the year.

Comcast NBCUniversal is committed to hiring an additional 11,000 veterans, military spouses, and National Guard and Reserve members, bringing our total to 21,000 military hires by the end of 2021.  In August, Comcast also announced that its Internet Essentials program – the nation’s largest and most comprehensive high-speed Internet adoption program for low-income households – has expanded eligibility to low-income veterans, nearly one million of whom live within the Comcast footprint.

As part of our local Beltway Region celebration, we partnered with City Year D.C. and the Travis Manion Foundation to bring veterans to John Hayden Johnson Middle School, as part of “Take a Vet to School,” to educate students on the service of veterans and their life in and after the military. Students were able to hear from Comcast employee veterans from the U.S. Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy. Comcast veterans were also paired with the students to make care packages for Veterans of the Southeast Veterans Services Center.
